Heart Failure

The Challenge

Our client needed a program to educate their Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) in preparation for the launch of an investigational new drug with 5 extremely complex mechanisms of action (MOA).

The ERS Solution

We created an innovative and engaging augmented reality program delivered via iPad, which featured complex 2D/3D medical animations and illustration segments that simplified the complex MOA story and emphasized the unmet need in the market.

The platform allowed MSLs to aim the iPad camera at a tracker image to launch a virtual-based projector. This initiated a series of holographic images showing 3D images of the heart that could be manually manipulated by the user to explore cardiac anatomy and normal heart function. Additionally, video, medical illustrations and text sections helped to explain the MOA story.

ERS delivered training workshops that allowed MSLs to practice navigating and demonstrating the platform, verbalizing the visual animations and supportive illustrations and delivering a cogent MOA narrative. In addition, google analytics were incorporated into the platform, tracking which sections were being viewed frequently.

The Result

The visual emphasis the platform provided enabled MSLs to clearly articulate the product’s complex MOA story, giving them a firm understanding of the products MOA and its impact on cardiac function. Additionally, the platform could be used in unsolicited customer discussions as an illustrative resource. Finally, the back-end metrics provided insight into time spent in KOL discussions and which sections held the greatest level of interest during customer interactions.
